We also need to check that the furnace is properly sized for the space in which it’s being installed. No, we don’t just mean that the furnace must slide into place—we mean that the furnace system must not be overpowered or underpowered. This requires us taking a heat load calculation, and without this, you can be stuck with a highly inefficient furnace.
Step #2: Making the Connections
Once the new furnace has been installed, and usually, this means bolting it to the floor, too, our technicians will connect the system to the components needed for its operation.
This includes your ventilation system, or, your ductwork. Ductwork must be hooked up to the furnace correctly in order to avoid damaging them. Air ducts often have to be adjusted and shifted during this process, and this is where mistakes can happen if not handled carefully.
Next, our techs hook your furnace up to its power source. As we mentioned above, we have your safety to contend with when it comes to gas-powered furnaces. Any connections to your gas line require an experienced and specially licensed professional to manage.
Last, is the wiring. Even gas-powered heating systems do have some electrical wiring. With the potential for a fire hazard if this step isn’t done correctly, it’s easy to see why you should only trust a trained and experienced heating installer.
Step #3: Testing Your New Heating System
Testing your furnace is the final step, but certainly not the least important.
